Our prototype making services manufactures your 2D and 3D designs into physical parts. Prototypes are used for mock-up presentation, performance testing and other purposes. Shonan Design Singapore started in Singapore in 1996 to provide CNC prototyping services, and we follow the production standards and quality of our headquarter in Japan. Today prototyping is our core business, and we have expanded to include various prototyping processes and post processing services.
Prototyping
We produce prototypes by:
A. CNC Tooling & Machining Processes
- CAD models from customers are carefully studied and split into smaller parts for machining if necessary.
- CNC programs for each individual parts are then generated by CAM software and input into our CNC machines for precise machining.
- Individual parts are re-assembled to the design specification.
- Accuracy of prototypes are verified before delivery.
Our CNC machines and production facilities occupy 3 floors of the building, while the 4th floor caters to our engineering and management team
Materials Available
- ABS
- PC
- POM / Derlin
- PMMA / Acrylic
- Aluminium, Copper
- Others ( Chemical Wood, Glass-filled Nylon)
We stock in-house commonly used material blocks from Japan to ensure quality CNC prototype production and speedy delivery to customer.
Types of Data Accepted
- 2D drawings
- 2D CAD (DXF/DWG files)
- 3D solid or surface CAD data (IGES, STEP, Parasolid etc.)
Send us your design data for accurate quote. We shall sign Non-disclosure agreements (NDA) as necessary and we treat customers data with highest level of confidentiality and integrity.
B. Vacuum Casting of Rubber (Silicon) Mould
Vacuum casting is a process where the master model (part to be replicated) is cast in silicon rubber to create a mould. Thereafter, polyurethane (PU) resin is injected into the mould inside a vacuum chamber to cast the duplicates. Vacuum Casting is also commonly referred to as making rubber (silicon) mould.
The qualities of duplicates depend on quality of the master model. Average number of duplicates from one mould is about 20 runs. This quantity is also subjected to factors like complexity of the part to be moulded and wear and tear of the rubber mould. Depending on quantity, it can be more economical to produce quantities of prototypes by vacuum casting.
Materials Available
- Silicon rubber and PU rubber
- PU plastic – ABS, High Temperature Resistant, PP, Clear
Various hardness and colour of material is available. Call us to discuss your requirements.
C. Rapid Prototyping
We can provide prototype fabrication by rapid prototyping with SLA and SLS machines.
D. Sheet Metal Fabrication
Our team can provide sheet metal prototype parts manufactured to your specifications.
E. Anodizing – Spray Painting – Silk Screening
After the prototypes are manufactured, we can add anodizing, spray painting and silkscreen printing onto the products to provide required aesthetic look.
If you have other requirements for your prototypes, please feel free to contact us – we strive to provide you with a one-stop solution for your prototyping needs.
